Since when can Weathermen predict the Weather let alone the future…

All this week i’ve been trying to hurry and get my yard ready for grass. I did this because the weather has been so cool lately I didn’t want to get caught trying to lay sod in 30 degree weather with snow falling all around me.

Now the weather reports are that it’s going to be in the 90′s again soon.

It’s the weekend again. Tomorrow is the company picnic. I’m looking forward to a (hopefully) relaxing weekend.

The kids start school again on Monday. We met their teachers and walked through the new school this afternoon. They were suddenly shy when they met their teachers.

My wife’s birthday is this weekend. The problem is that I’m still not sure what to get her. I’m going to have to do some serious shopping tomorrow.

Is anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

Hard work never killed anyone……but it can sure make you walk funny.

Spent most of the day working in the yard. I was supposed to get a Bobcat to level everything and remove the top layer of dirt. Basically get it ready for sod soon.

When we went to pick it up, nobody was there. Oh well, I guess I can just keep doing it by hand until I can get the Bobcat. I was able to get the park strip in front of the house ready.

There was also a neighbor down the street that was giving away all of his left over sod. So I went and picked some of it up and put down the sod in the park strip. It’s still need a little work next week, but at least we have some grass now.

Spent most of my afternoon and evening in meetings today. I don’t mind them so much, but after working in the yard so much today, I’m extremely sore.

I can hardly walk and when I do I walk funny. I’m going to go sit in the Jacuzzi Tub for an hour or two, so I can get some rest tonight.

The meetings today were really good. The second one was a bit odd, but that had to do with a personal situation more than the content of the meeting.

Have one more meeting tomorrow morning, but this one is early. We have to be there by about 9:00, so this should be interesting.

Tub’s ready, later.

Responsibility….

I just took on a lot more of it in my life today. It’s certainly not a bad thing, but I am going to be away from my family a bit more now.

I’m actually looking forward to the challenge and this can be really good for both myself and my family.

It was certainly something that I wasn’t expecting. In fact, I was expecting something completely different and with a lot less responsibility.

It’s been a good weekend though. We had one of the neighbor families over for dinner tonight, which was great. They are fast becoming the family that we do nearly everything with. We made a marinated Tri-tip roast, potatoes w/ bacon, and Peach Cobble in the our Dutch Ovens. We also had corn on the cob and a really good (and fresh) tossed salad. Another neighbor family came over for dessert.

I’m exhausted….more later.

Dirt, Dirt and more Dirt….

Worked in the yard most of the day today. I was actually able to get a lot of the weeding done. I’ve decided that I’m going to rent a small bobcat next Saturday and take the top couple of inches off and get it ready for sod.

Needless to say, I’m dirty and very tired. We launched rockets for a couple of hours this evening. We didn’t lose any, but two of them are no longer in any condition to be launched. I guess that’s part of the fun of it.

Driving through the neighborhood to our house today, I noticed the number of homes for sale and/or abandoned. These houses have been here for 5 of fewer years. I’m sure that there are a lot of them where the owners just want to move on and up in their lives, but there are several of these houses where it’s somewhat obvious that there are financial difficulties.

It’s sad really. You notice that they start trying to sell their cars, RV’s, boats, motorcycles and other belongings, then the house goes up for sell. Finally, the family moves out and the house is abandoned. The yards are usually pretty trashed, dead grass, fences that need to be repaired, etc.

I’m not saying that every house that is in that condition is the result of financial difficulties, but we seem to have a lot of houses that are abandoned in out neighborhood.

Too bad I don’t have the money to buy them up, fix them up and take care of them.

End of the week….

The week went by quicker and easier than I had anticipated it would. At least the weekend is here again.

Of course, I get to work in the yard Friday and Saturday, so I’m not sure if it’s going to be a great weekend.

We lost one of our model rockets the other night, so we bought a couple more. Guess I’ll be putting them together and launching them this weekend.

All week I’ve been thinking that I need to start a campaign to get boyplankton on The Amazing Race. He’d make for great Reality TV! The only thing currently missing is who to get to be his partner during the race. Anybody have any suggestions?

I wonder if he’s still barred from entering most Eastern European countries though….. :D
