Loue You

My wife and I TXT each other frequently.  It’s an easy of way of saying or asking something without interrupting our day.  That’s not to say that we don’t also talk on the phone too, but by TXTing each other she can ask me a quick question while I’m in a meeting or something and I can respond when I have a moment.

We also send little love notes every so often, usually it’s just a simple “Thinking of you.  Love you”.  To make things faster I programmed some quick text into my phone so that I could quickly send her the phrases that I would typically send her.

I did this two years ago when I purchased a new phone.  The problem is that I misspelled it, so instead of it saying “Love You” it said “Loue you”.

That’s not the worst part.  The worst part is that neither of us caught the misspelling until a week or two ago.  Now that we’re on the verge of purchasing new phones there’s no point in fixing it now.   Maybe I’ll just program it that way in the new phone too.

Look what I found…

While serving in Bloomsburg, PA (my first area) I went to an elderly woman’s home to help her out with a few things around the house.

While there she fed us lunch.  We had Summer Sausage and Lettuce sandwiches.  At first I wasn’t sure that I wanted to try them because they didn’t sound very good.

I reluctantly tried them and ended up really liking them.  Two years later, I returned to Utah and have been trying to find Summer Sausage lunch meat ever since.  Of course I have been able to find Summer Sausage logs, especially during the holidays, but finding the lunch meat has proven difficult.

I found it one time in a multi-pack of lunch meats at a Fred Meyer, but even that was years ago and there was probably only 6-8 slices in the package.  Every time I walk past the lunch meat section in any grocery store, I pause and scan for the Summer Sausage.  I’m sure that people think I’m a bit out of my mind.

This morning I was at Target and just happened to walk past the lunch meats.  I was in a hurry so I glanced at the section as I walked by.  What I found stopped me dead in my tracks.

There it was hanging on the top row, Oscar Meyer Summer Sausage lunch meat.  It wasn’t in a multi-pack and it wasn’t just a few slices.  It was a full sized 12 oz. package entirely devoted to Summer Sausage.

For the record,  I bought two.

License Plates

Filed under: Cars — Muncey @ 5:11 pm

I just picked up the new license plates for the truck.  I didn’t get the exact plates that I wanted yet, but I will in the future.

For now I have the cool new Utah plates.

How to win back and influence fans?

When I tuned in to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno the other night they were actually running a show that was from 1993 or so.  I didn’t watch any TV in 1993 so it was new to me, but how many people out there are growing tired of watching reruns?  According to this article that would appear to be the case.

I was actually thinking about this very thing last night only it was in regards to the Writers Strike currently going on.  While selling discounted tickets is going to put warm bodies in seats temporarily, is it going to last?  What will people do as soon as the discounted prices are no longer available?

My biggest question is what are all of these shows going to do when the strike is finally over and new shows are being produced again.  Will we see another “Sweeps” type period?  Will there be all kinds of cliff hangers and storyline twists?  Will we see  ”Super-Sized” episodes like NBC has done in the past?  Will we see “Commercial Free” or “Limited Commercial Interruption” shows?

I’m of the opinion that the NBA is still suffering from their lockout season and that was nearly 10 years ago.  I know that I’ve not had the same attitude towards NBA Basketball since then and have spoken to many others that feel the same.

The biggest difference in this case is that you don’t pay $50 to sit in front of your TV.  Americans love their TV, but will they be very forgiving if the strike lasts beyond the first of the year and Episodic TV begins to be affected?

There are already rumblings that some shows (Bionic Woman) have been shut down and may be cancelled all together.  It should be interesting to see how the rest of this plays out.

Bring them to us…

Things like this are some of the biggest tragedies in the world today, in my opinion.  Now I understand that some people have a difficult time with certain things and that things like this unfortunately happen.  I wish that there was a way to stop them completely, but until Minority Report becomes a reality, I don’t see it happening.

I once heard someone say that one of the biggest ironies in life is there are women in the world that so desperately want to have children and for some reason are unable to and yet there are women in the world that are having children and don’t want them.

That doesn’t appear to be the case in the story above, but my heart goes out to children everywhere that aren’t loved as much as they should be and may not be wanted by their parents.

I say bring those children to my wife and I.  We have a large loving family with plenty of space in our home to care for and love these children, it’s what they are entitled to.
