Gentlemen, this is your yearly Public Service Announcement regarding Valentine’s Day. In the words of my former Bishop, “Brethren, put some thought into the gifts you give to your wife, under no circumstance is a household appliance an appropriate gift”.
In no way am I saying that you need to spend your life savings on a piece of jewelry either. Valentine’s day has always been a fun day around our house.
Our first Valentine’s after we were married, I bought her tickets to see Phantom of the Opera, another I bought her some Diamond and Gold jewelry, for yet another a new television, and another a new Treadmill, and still another new Living Room Furniture and finally yet another I hired a Quartet to come sing to her.
I’m of course not the perfect example, but I am able to stand up and report that putting a few extra minutes of thought into a gift for your wife, will make all the difference in the world when it comes to her happiness. As far as I know, my wife has always enjoyed her gifts.
Every so often a Peanut Butter and Honey sandwich comes along that is so properly proportioned, so well aged, so perfect, that you are compelled to have another. If only the second could live up to the standard set by its predecessor.
I first caught a glimpse of this on our recent trip to Idaho. I was sucked in by it and watched it for a while.
It’s really kind of a cool idea, especially for us geeks that like to see various different kinds of Advertising.
there was probably a tour of local children in which someone pulled out an innocent looking cable and now two continents are scrambling to figure out why half or more of their connectivity is down
So maybe that’s not the real story, but it sounds more interesting than an underwater cable having trouble.

Tonight was a Court of Honor for our local Boy Scout Troop and Varsity Team.
My son earned both his Second and First Class Rank advancements recently and was presented with his patches tonight.

As a Varsity Scout leader I had also earned my Varsity Letter 8 months ago, but it just hadn’t worked out the last couple of times for it to be awarded to me. Since then I’ve also earned a bar, so both were presented to me tonight. It’s always nice when you get to kiss the beautiful woman pinning it on you

Unfortunately, the photos turned out a little fuzzy.
