Halloween…

As a kid I always loved halloween.  I was going to do this as my “Costume” this year but I didn’t have the time (or desire) to get up early enough to get it done before work.

This afternoon for work we went bowling and then were able to go home early.  I’m sure that I’m going to pay for it this weekend, but it was fun while it lasted.

This evening, the kids went to the Trunk or Treat at the park across from our house.  Even though I had come home early I ended up needing to finish up a few things for work, so I stayed home.

After they were done we went to my parents house.  My sons had spent the night and had helped them decorate their home for Halloween.  This year they had Hot Dogs, chips, homemade Root Beer, cotton candy and of course a large bowl of candy.

Our kids went Trick or Treating throughout their neighborhood and we got to see people that we don’t get to see very often.  It was a lot of fun.

Unfortunately we took our camera but someone managed to not take any photos.  The the one of my daughter below.  She’s dressed up as Junie B. Jones – First Grader, which is a favorite amongst the girls in our house.

Thankfully when we got home all of our pumpkins were still in tact on the front porch too.

Lunch at the grocery store…

My wife and kids joined me for lunch today.  We went to a local grocery store that has decent food.  It worked out well because we needed to purchase a few items also.

We asked my daughter if she wanted Chicken Strips or a Corn Dog.  She chose a Corn Dog, so we bought it for her and went upstairs to eat.

The first thing that she did was peel off all of the corn bread exterior, so she could eat the Hot Dog.  Crazy kid.

After lunch we were browsing the store and I found these.  I like the Carmel Apple suckers, but these aren’t quite the same.  They actually look kind of gross in the box, but I didn’t think to take a photo of them.

Taking up the habit again?

Filed under: Food — Muncey @ 10:17 am

It seems that after a good while off of this stuff that I’ve taken up the habit again.  I just couldn’t resist as I drove past this morning.  I blame my car as it automatically turned in and forced me to go in.

The Great Escape…

Just to refresh your memory a bit.  In the past I’ve written posts like this, and this and finally this.

There is never a dull moment in our home with him (and his sister) around.

Lately though it’s been more terrifying.  We live across the street from a large park.  We did that by design, we don’t have a large yard, so we wanted to be near the park so the kids could have a place to play.

It has its ups and downs.  It’s nice to be able to send the kids over to play, but when the older kids are “playing” until all hours of the night it gets a bit frustrating.

I guess we’ve hit the Independence stage with our son because lately he’s been opening the front door and leaving the house.  Each time he heads for the park.  Last Saturday he made it all the way over there without anyone noticing.  That was until someone brought him home.

So now our exterior doors look something like this.  Now if only this same thing will work when my daughters are teenagers.

Tony Hillerman…

Filed under: Books — Muncey @ 6:26 pm

He died yesterday.  I was introduced to his books as a teenager in my Senior English class.

I read several of them and have often wanted to read more of them, but due to the lack of free time I haven’t read many books lately.  In fact I’ve been working on one book for about 5 years now and I’m still not even halfway through it.

Reading the articles about his life today makes me want to read more of his works.  Now if only I had the time.
