On my way to work every morning, I pass through several school zones. Which means 20 mph limits and kids on the sidewalks.
Having several children myself, I try to be very aware of the kids to take extra precaution and hope that while my kids are out and about that others would do the same.
This morning I saw something that I’m not sure if I should be disturbed or amuzed. As I was stopped at red light there was a young lady riding her bike on the sidewalk apparently on her way to school. She looked like she was probably in the 5th or 6th grade and had only one had on the handbars. As I mentioned, I have children and this is nothing out of the ordinary. As a kid myself, I rode with one or no hands on my handlebars all the time.
What I had to do a double take on was that her other hand was up to her ear holding a cell phone and she was talking away. Predictably she was swerving all over the place and came close to hitting some other children walking to school.
Sometimes I really wonder about the example we as the adults and leaders in this world are setting for the up and coming generation.
