Manners are important...

Well at least he was polite, as he robbed the credit union.  I'm sure his mother always told him that when he was a young man that whenever he robbed anyone that he should always thank them for doing a good job. I can see his lawyers closing arguments now.  "And in closing, if convicted we feel that my client should receive a reduced sentence because he was polite and thanked the tellers for doing a good job".

I kind of agree...

I have to say that I kind of agree with the changes in the Nevada state law here. I like that you have to qualify, though I know a lot of people don't always have the gun that they are going to carry before they have their permit. I know that some Utah Instructors require that their students go to the range with them and shoot before they will sign off on their paperwork, which I think is a step in the right direction. What I don't particularly like is the idea of giving someone a concealed firearms permit who may have never handled a firearm.  Even 15 minutes of experience and training is more than what some people are getting before they have their permit. What I don't like is that right now Utah permit holders have to leave their firearm in their car when in Nevada.

Ouch...

My son and I went shooting this morning.  Now we both have bruised shoulders.  I really need to do something about that gun. The nice thing was that I scored higher than I ever have on the first 2 rounds, 20 out of 25 and 22 out of 25.  I shot a 3rd round and probably shouldn't have because I was ready to leave and didn't much care about my score, but I still got a 17, which is about average for me.

A "How To" that everyone should know!

OK, maybe just everyone in my family should know this one. I have a very short list of things that I must have that my wife insists I cannot have. They are:
  1. Guns
  2. Motorcycles
  3. Snakes
Well, I've finally been able to slowly get some guns and while I've not got all of them that I'd like to get yet, we're working on it slowly. After Ken's death last year in a motorcycle accident, I think that my desire to have motorcycles is tempered a bit.  Though honestly, I'm more of an off-road motorcycle type of guy.  I've never really been an Street Bike person, but with her being a Nurse a motorcycle is a motorcycle, it doesn't really matter what surface you're driving it on. So the next thing on my list is a Snake.  One of these days, maybe I'll get to own one, if my wife allows me to.  Well a guy can dream can't he.  OK, 1 out of 3 isn't bad right?

Repairs...

I took one of my guns in for some repairs.  When I took it in, I was told that it would be 10 days.  That was 16 days ago.  Since then I've heard nothing. So today I called them and asked about it.  It hadn't been returned to their store yet (it had to be shipped out for repairs) but they told me that I could call the place that they shipped it to and find out the status. So I called (a long distance call for me and no 1.800 number).  I was on hold for 20 minutes just trying to get to the point to talk with someone about it.  Once I finally did get someone on the phone I had their attention for all of about 17 seconds and they passed me on to someone else (the Gunsmith) and instead of speaking with him I ended up getting his voice mail. He called me back a couple of hours later and told me that he had just received the gun today, but that he would start looking at it and get back to me soon.  Today!?  They've had it for over two weeks and I know that they don't ship the guns out, they hand deliver them.  Frustrating. He seems like a nice guy and it sounds like he knows what he's talking about but what a pain.  After this experience, I already know that I'm not going back to them for anything.
