Yo-Yo

I've lost track, but how many times has this Yo-Yo gone up and down now? I absolutely love snowmobiling.  I've basically been riding them since I was a year old.  To me there's really nothing better than a ride to the top of the mountain, taking a lunch break and sitting on the top of a peaceful mountain enjoying the surroundings. I understand what the Environmentalists are trying to accomplish, I really do, but can somebody PLEASE come up with a compromise.  This has been going on for so many years that it's getting to be a bit frivolous if you ask me.

Tour of Utah - Stage 4

I volunteered to be a Course Marshal for the Tour of Utah today.  I was responsible to stop traffic from leaving the Little Mill Campground in American Fork Canyon. It was a long day, but a lot of fun.  Thankfully I didn't have any issues with anyone trying to leave the campground and was able to watch the racers come by.

Tour of Utah - Stage 3

The kids and I went out to Miller Motorsports Park and watched the Tour of Utah Time Trials (Stage 3) tonight.

It was actually pretty cool.  We were able to walk through the Paddock area, which was pretty close to where they had the Start and Finish lines.  The teams were also on their trainers and were warming up in the garages, so we were able to see them up close.

Zirbell, McKissick, and Bookwalter took the stage.

Company Summer Party...

Spent a great summer evening at the ballpark tonight.  It was our Company Party.  We had great food before the game, a health fair, Peanuts and Cracker Jacks, an awesome game (which the Bees won), all of which was capped off with Fireworks. My family and I rode Trax to the game from the office, otherwise we would have stayed for the base run afterwards too, but it was really late and a school night so we had to get home.

What kind of change will be inspired?

In reading through this article today I kept thinking that it was too young.  Starting out this young causes all kinds of problems in my mind.  Our society already puts way too much pressure on young kids (which is exactly what they are) to perform at unrealistic levels.  I can't imagine what kinds of pressure will be put on a 12 year old to get to a level that will cause them to be noticed by College Coaches. Also, what does this do to the High School Basketball landscape?  When a kid is in the 7th Grade and being recruited by college coaches, how does this impact which High School he attends?  What happens if the college coach strongly hints that if this kid went to a certain private school that he kid would have a stronger chance of making it at the college level. Do the parents put their kid into that school?  All of the sudden it's possible that a small handful of schools become more so of a Basketball powerhouses, leaving the other programs to limp along. What happens if the coach is fired or moves on from the college that the kid is being recruited to?  Too many things can dramatically change from the 7th grade to their Junior and Senior years. I realize that most of what I'm saying can be extremes, but if it were my kids, I would tell the coaches to come back in 4 years when my kid is a bit more mature and ready for what the coach is about to talk with him about.
